The Elida Estate Story
At the turn of the century, Kentucky born Robert Lamastus started an Arabica coffee plantation on a farm located at around 5,600ft. above sea level in the outskirts of the Baru Volcano in Boquete, Panama, making it the highest coffee farm in Panama. Mr. Lamastus processed and exported what is still considered today one of the highest quality coffees in the world. Now, two generations later, the tradition continues. The Lamastus family still produces, processes and exports its own rare estate coffees. Elida Estate took 1st place of the non-geisha variety in the Best of Panama show in 2007 in Boquete, Panama.CALL BILL FOR SAMPLES AT 407-493-0227
Elida Estate is planted with Arabica coffees in rich deep young volcanic soils. The coffees are kept in optimum conditions to develop the best quality coffee that the trees can produce as well as keeping the environment at its most pristine and natural condition. The cherries are delicately hand picked at strict full maturity by native Ngobe-Bugle Indians. The coffee is then washed and processed with utmost care to keep the rich flavor of the coffee. Then the coffee is carefully selected, rested for 60 days in burlap sacks on wooden floors, and exported to Longwood Florida for roasting for Bill's Best Coffee Service.
